Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, 1 cup of sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Unroll one of the pie crusts onto the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the apple mixture onto the crust, leaving a border around the edges.
  4. Unroll the second pie crust on top of the apple mixture. Pinch the edges of the crusts together to seal the pie.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water. Brush the egg wash over the top crust of the pie.
  6. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over the top of the pie.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
  8. Bake the apple slab pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
