  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat milk, water, and butter until warm (120-130°F).
  3. Add the warm liquid mixture and egg to the flour mixture. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then increase to high speed for 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch the dough down and divide in half. Roll each half into a 12×7-inch rectangle.
  7. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over dough rectangles.
  8. Roll up each rectangle jelly-roll style, starting from a long side. Pinch seams to seal.
  9. Place seam side down in greased 9×5-inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.
