Roti John is a popular Malaysian street food that consists of a baguette-style bread filled with a delicious mixture of minced meat, onions, and eggs.   • 1 baguette
  • 250g minced meat (beef, chicken, or lamb)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the baguette in half lengthwise, but not all the way through.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the minced meat, onion, garlic, chili, soy sauce, curry powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the meat mixture evenly on one side of the baguette.
  4. Beat the eggs and pour them over the meat mixture.
  5. Heat some butter or oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Carefully place the filled baguette in the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes until the eggs are set and the bread is crispy.
  7. Flip the Roti John and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the other side is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the pan, slice into individual portions, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Roti John!
