  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Pita bread, hummus, and toppings of your choice for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, and chicken broth.
  3. Pour the mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, making sure to coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, shred it using two forks.
  6. Serve the chicken shawarma in pita bread with hummus and your favorite toppings.
