A Delectable Toffee Treat That's Hard to Resist

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts pecans or walnuts
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the melted butter, stirring until fully combined.
  4. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  5. Once boiling, stop stirring and let it bubble for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches a deep amber color.
  6. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the flour and chopped nuts.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly in the baking dish and let it cool for about 15 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the slightly cooled toffee, allowing them to melt before spreading.
  9. If desired, add shredded coconut on top before the chocolate fully sets.
  10. Let it cool completely, then slice into squares or bars for serving.
