Crafting Perfect Buffalo Wings at Home

Make Buffalo wing with clear steps, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce such as Frank’s RedHot
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tbsp honey optional, for a touch of sweetness

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help achieve the crispy texture you desire.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss the wings until they are evenly coated with the mixture.
  3. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the coated wings in a single layer on the rack. This will allow air to circulate around the wings, promoting even cooking.
  4. Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, turning them halfway through for even crispiness. Look for a golden-brown color and crispy skin.
  5. While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the hot sauce, melted butter, and honey (if using). Heat on low, stirring until well combined and slightly thickened.
  6. Once the wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and place them in a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the wings and toss them until they are well coated.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauces and celery sticks.
