Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread half of the cream cheese filling on top.
Top with the second cake layer and spread the remaining filling on top.
Garnish with fresh fruit or berries before serving.
