Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Frosting of your choice
  • Seasonal decorations e.g., nuts, fruits, edible flowers

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the creamed mixture alternating with milk.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract until well incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer and place the second layer on top before frosting the sides.
  10. Decorate your cake with seasonal elements as desired.
