Make Guilt-Free Donuts for Every Sweet Tooth with clear steps, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • cup maple syrup or honey
  • cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp almond milk
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar or cinnamon sugar
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips melted (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan or use a silicone mold for easy release.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat pastry flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the maple syrup, Greek yogurt, almond milk, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. If desired, fold in dark chocolate chips or chopped nuts for an extra flavor boost.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the donuts are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For a finishing touch, sprinkle with coconut sugar or cinnamon sugar while still warm, or dip them in melted dark chocolate.
