Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and chopping them into small pieces.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and heat over medium until it melts.
  4. Add butter and, once melted, carefully pour in the heavy cream.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, then allow the caramel to cool slightly.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples with a bit of the cooled caramel.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Cut the puff pastry into squares and fill each with apple mixture, then drizzle with more caramel.
  9. Fold the pastry corners over the filling, sealing with a pinch, and place on a baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops with egg wash for color and shine, then bake for 20-25 minutes.
  11. Let cool before serving to avoid burns, and enjoy.
